For neurodiverse brains what may seem like the simplest jobs become daunting and overwhelming and the best way to over come that is to break each job into bitesize chunks.
With this in mind we have created our “Task Boxes” to try and help young people with ADHD, ADD, ASD and similar neurodiverse conditions. We have incorporated a font that is easier for people with dyslexia (road tested by a friend with dyslexia) but we can change this if absolutely necessary.
Each box is specifically created to break down the jobs that a neurotypical brain would find easy – getting ready for school, after school, emptying the dishwasher and tidying a bedroom.
We work WITH you to create the box that will work best for you and your child as we know that every young person is different. These have been tried and tested with our own two ADHD-diagnosed sons and they do help tremendously as it helps to keep them on task. We even turn it into a game by giving them time limits or racing them against each other. We know they aren’t the answer to everything but they are certainly a great way of helping.
